You probably can’t walk more than a few feet across the MIT campus before encountering a dozen flyers of varying colors and sizes. They are a common vehicle for the promotion of events, club gatherings, new courses—virtually anything that’s happening on campus. Flyers are a simple and powerful way to get your message out to your desired audience.
Flyers can be produced inexpensively and in large quantities. Choosing to print in black and white on one of MIT Copytech’s variety of color stocks can be a vibrant yet budget friendly option. You can also choose color printing, but the cost can increase significantly depending on the quantity.
Flyers are predominately 8 ½” x 11” but can also be 5 ½” x 8 ½”. They can be produced on text or cover weight stocks.
If you want to get your message out to a large audience or make a big impact with design and graphics, posters are the vehicle that will serve you best. The sheer size of a poster will allow your message to stand out in a crowd and grab your audience’s attention. Posters also give you the option of using a stunning large image or many smaller images. They give you more room to provide more information, but they also have enough space to allow critical elements to stand out.
Posters are best used for promoting a seminar, symposium or official MIT event. Careful attention to design, layout and the use of fonts and colors can help make a big difference in the final product, and a consultation with our design advisor can guide you to make the right choices for your needs.
Unlike the process used for flyers, poster printing is predominately done in color. Posters can be printed at 8 ½” x 11”, 11” x 17” and 13” x 19”. MIT Copytech offers a select number of stocks in matte and semi-gloss finishes. Posters can be trimmed to bleed, with the colors running edge to edge.
